Native Observability is the Heart of Hybrid Cloud

Ron Pick lays out exactly why observability has to be native, not bolted on — and the hybrid AI era is the forcing function that makes this non-negotiable. Cloudera is solving the hardest part of the problem: unified telemetry across on-prem, cloud, and edge, grounded in OpenTelemetry and hardened by diagnostic intelligence from 1.3M+ nodes. That's the circulatory system for hybrid AI.

This is especially consequential for regulated industries and enterprises with disparate sources spanning multiple hyperscalers, on-prem systems, and edge environments. Those are exactly the estates where bolt-on observability fails quietly and expensively — and exactly where native, unified visibility becomes a competitive and compliance advantage, not just an operational one.

At Duczer East, we work across the full arc of enterprise AI delivery — data, integration, agentic architecture, governance, and the semantic and context layers that tie it all together. Within that arc, the semantic layer is the component we see most consistently overlooked and underserved, and the one with the highest impact on whether agentic rollouts actually scale. Platform observability tells you the pipeline ran in 2.3 seconds. Semantic observability tells you it ran against the right definition of "customer," respected the right boundary between business units, and produced a result consistent with the intent encoded upstream. Both matter. In an agentic world, neither substitutes for the other.

If the context layer is a living organism, it needs vitals too. Cloudera's native observability is what makes those vitals trustworthy at the data and infrastructure layer. Our job is to make sure the context and intent layers are as observable, governed, and native as the platform beneath them.

Worth the read.
